A bank of four capacitors (10uf, 600 VDC) are connected in parallel and can be charged up to 600 volts. By discharging the capacitors with a brass discharging fork, a big spark and snap can be seen and heard.
In an alternate demonstrate, a charged capacitor can be charged with a battery, then used to drive a small motor.
