A resistor is mounted above a small Bunsen burner which may be ignited to increase its temperature. The incandescent bulb is connected through a variable resistance to a power supply so that it may be adjusted to maximum intensity at room temperature. When the burner is ignited, the bulb intensity will noticeably decrease indicating the increased resistance.
