This is a set of two-dimensional (cross-section) lenses and mirrors that are magnetically mounted on a blackboard. A series of parallel rays is directed towards the components. The rays are clearly visible on the blackboard, so you can visually demonstrate the ray tracing as the beams converge, diverge, form images, etc.
