A ping-pong ball is attached to the rotating metal disk using a small magnet glued to the ball. The periods of the disk rotational motion and the mass-spring oscillator are adjusted to be the same (and in phase). The shadow graph shows the oscillator moving up and down in exactly the same way as the ping-pong ball.
