I am using simulations to develop better theories of the mechanics of complex materials. The mechanical properties of many materials such as biological tissues, amorphous glasses, and nano-crystalline metals depend on disordered microscopic geometry. I apply methods from soft condensed matter physics, materials science, and mechanical engineering to understand the linear and non-linear responses of these materials to applied stresses.
