Circle Limit IV by M. C. Escher

My Current Research

While I am interested in most topics in soft matter physics and biophysics, currently the focus of my work is on jammed amorphous materials and the glass transition.

In particular, I am interested in studying model systems where negative Gaussian curvature impacts the local space available to the constituent particles, and, as a results, plays a role in the thermodynamics of the system.

This curvature can manifest its effects everywhere from the Virial expansion and the statement of free volume theory to, hopefully, allowing a cleaner view on certain aspects of a universal glass transition.
